Michael Regnis has cared for our koi fish for over 30 years, all our pond problems ceased once it was in Michaels’ competent hands. Another person had installed a large, expensive filter onto our new pond, and  despite it being specified as easily coping with its task on our pond, months later, the water remained murky and the fish were ill. Michael diagnosed the problem as soon as he tested the water (inadequate filtration).  Instead of trying to sell us another expensive filter, he hid his Gravel Tub Filter model 3 in the recirculating stream that flowed to our pond.

Even though we had more than 3 x the body weight of fish in a pond 2 x as big  as a pond he would normally recommend for this filter, within 3 days of him installing it and seeding it with bacteria, our fish were thriving, and the water was crystal clear, and remained like that for the next 10 years, until we re-located to Bowral.

We considered ourselves to be too far outside Michaels’ normal service area to ask him to assist with the move, to Bowral, or installing filtration on our new 10,000 liter pond- at 2 meters deep, the Gravel  Tub Filter would have been impossible to clean!!!

Mistake, once again!! Michael to the rescue!! He diagnosed that the filtration was inadequate, and installed a second filter, and because our fish are so  loved, was able to disaster -proof them (2 totally independent pump and filter systems, running side by side, plus solar roof cells, powering a battery which powers a strong aeration system for the pond.  Space does not allow 2 large filter systems to be installed, and we prefer the security of running 2 independent filter systems (an Oase BioTec 10 and a Laguna Power Clear 14000 pressure filter, because Michael assures us that running just 1 will keep the fish alive for at least 2 weeks, given we have a 10,000 liter pond, and a strong aeration system, providing we stopped feeding the fish as soon as one of the filter systems failed .  The pond holds around 60 kg of large Koi.

We now have Michael calling in each 2 weeks to perform a 1 hour service to safeguard our fish, he tests water, clears pump strainers, back flushes the filters, nets out debris and leaves, changes 20% of the water, via a system he designed and installed that waters our garden with pond water. We AND our fish could not be happier for his help, and are very grateful for the peace of mind, and happy fish and sparkling clear water we now enjoy!!

Dear Michael.

I and my family have been happy and grateful clients of Michael Regnis for many years.

Seven years ago we purchased a National Trust classified historic house with an important garden featuring a pond below a fountain. We hoped the pond could be the home to Koi however had no idea if this was possible.

We had always enjoyed visiting our favorite Koi Pond at Arthur McElhone Reserve in Elizabeth Bay which has an abundance of healthy fish, clear flowing water and marine plants. Research identified Michael as the mastermind who maintained the pond and ensured its health and beauty.

Michael was able to convert our old, dirty fountain pond to a thriving fishpond, installing a pond floor sub gravel filter, covered by a gravel bed, powered by a hidden pond vacuum.

Michael is a pleasure to work with.

His knowledge of ponds, their design, maintenance and potential are encyclopedic. His tales of pond life, issues and solutions are fascinating.

We have now enjoyed the beauty of the koi for many uninterrupted years.

I highly recommend Michael to any pond owner or aspiring pond owner and would be happy to a speak to anyone considering retaining his services. Michael will provide my mobile number on request.

Yours sincerely,

Stephen (Potts Point)

Michael Regnis is the master of pond and fish care. I thought he was so good that I presumed he must be a doctor of pond and fish care. Now I must restate my belief that he is better than good and is in fact excellent, so he must be a professor of fish and pond care.

I cannot rate Professor Regnis more highly. He designed and installed a WHOLE of POND FLOOR SUB GRAVEL FILTER. It gives sparkling clear water and only needs cleaning once per year.

The fish and water lilies are extremely happy with one Lilly now having 16 flowers. Is this a record?

If a fish gets ill then the professor analyses the problem and nurses them back to good health.

I am a very happy owner of koi and goldfish and I cannot recommend Professor Regnis high enough.

Regards

Andrew.

I’m very pleased to be able to write this testimonial to Michael Regnis our pond and fish expert

Michael has been coming and looking after our pond for over 30 years

We have a Concrete Fiber glassed in ground pond that meandered through our backyard some 30 to 40 feet and is home for about 40 fish from koi to fantails Comets Shubunkins and a few others too

Over the years Michael has put filters in our pond come and diagnose water conditions and problems and also checked on sick fish and been able to save many of them for us

He is extremely knowledgeable, my husband says what Michael doesn’t know about fish and ponds no one needs to worry about….and that is so true!

he is always able to come up with a workable solution for pretty much any problem with either the fish or the pond

Nothing is ever too much trouble for him he is always keen to fit in and help you and help solve your problem. As we have gotten older over the many years he even comes once a month and does full services for our fish and pond – we would be lost without him

Michael is extremely trust worthy and honorable – he even has keys to our property so that he can check on the fish and do servicing when we are not around

I was having troubles with a new pond and searched the net for a fixer.  Michael was recommended to me by an experienced pond maintainer – said he was the “pond whisperer”. Indeed he is as well as a delightful person with the best customer service approach I’ve encountered in a long while. Expert advice, options to meet budget and a resolute commitment to stand by his work.”
